Nursery Progress

Painting over the neon pink and lime green when we first moved in. We painted it
a neutral green, since we planned for this room to be the future nursery.

Tada! Holden's (aka "Pip's") colorful nursery is an amalgam of all the things that
DH and I love. DH is a cyclist, so the posters are vintage cycling prints from a New Orleans race and the 1925 Tour de France.

The ceramic giraffe, owls and turtles are from my trip to El Salvador. They were made by people with special needs at a pottery workshop.

The blocks spell "Pip," what we have called our little boy from the beginning. It stuck since we never settled on a name until 35 weeks! He will be Holden Daniel.
And, I'm pretty darn proud of my DIY name sign. It's an attempt to integrate all the elements of the room, so it doesn't have quite so much of an identity crisis. :)

We love dogs, so I was thrilled when I got this bedding set on clearance for $19.99.
The colors served as the inspiration for the room.

Above the crib is this framed hockey print - a signed artist's proof of our local hockey team that has been sitting in DH's storage for about a decade. We were happy we could resurrect it and give it a new life in our little boy's nursery.

DH picked out the vintage Tour de France poster, which is boyish and colorful. Then we found this poster of the Velodrome in New Orleans, and the two posters complement
each other perfectly. All the photo frames are still empty, but we will remedy that soon. :)

After searching everywhere for a decent dresser at an affordable price, we found this beauty at a local antique store. It is absolutely perfect and fits the style of our house.
It was quickly filled with onesies and sleepers from MIL's stash. :)

Our 1920s house has tiny closets, but it's just fine for Pip.
